About Me

Hi! I'm Andrew Zessar, a driven, analytical, curious, whole-brain thinker. Right now, fall of 2020, I am a student in App Academy's core software engineering program, where I am studying to be a full-stack engineer covering Ruby, Rails, PostgreSQL, JS, and React/Redux. Previously, I worked in pricing analytics at United Airlines where my team and I focused on optimizing our pricing strategies for all upgrade and seat assignment revenue (Economy Plus, United Business, etc.). I hold a BA in Economics and Mathematical Methods in the Social Sciences (MMSS) from Northwestern University where I, along with my two thesis writing partners, was awarded the Dacey Prize for Best Thesis in the MMSS major, studying the relationships (and lack thereof) between low-level drug crime and subsequent violent crime in NYC.

In my free time, I enjoy volunteering for social impact causes; I served as an economic policy analyst on Neal Sáles-Griffin's bid for Chicago mayor in 2019, and I am an Associate Board Member for the Chicago chapter of the Anti-Defamation League, graduating from the ADL's Glass Leadership Institute. I also love to write and perform sketch comedy at several theaters throughout Chicago. My most recent and notable performance was in front of a sold-out crowd at The Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival at Stage773 alongside my sketch group Post Malört.
